Our Family Health Team offers urgent care appointments during the evening.
There are times when you need to be seen right away due to your condition or your condition could get worse in a hurry, such as a fever or a urinary tract infection. These cases are urgent and need attention available at the After Hours Clinic for Urgent Care.
But there are other cases where your condition is more drastic and needs immediate attention. Here are some common examples of those emergency conditions:
- Anything you consider life-threatening or would generally make you think about calling 911
- Anything severe enough to make you believe you would need to stay in the hospital beyond the ER visit
- Possible stroke
- Possible heart attack
- Severed limbs
- Meningitis
- Severe symptoms (difficulty breathing, abdominal pain, etc.)
These are all emergencies. In these cases, you should call Emergency Services / 911 immediately and follow their directions.
Please note that the after hours clinic is for patients of Thamesview Family Health Team only, who have an urgent illness or a sudden onset of symptoms, like an earache or sore throat. Contact your family physician / nurse practitioner to check appointment availability. Only same day bookings are accepted and no routine or regular appointments will be booked for these clinics. These clinics are closed statutory holidays, and clinic times are subject to change.

What is urgent care?
Urgent matters include but are not limited to a sore throat, fever, earache, etc. Also if a chronic disease condition changes suddenly – for example, a congestive heart failure patient experiences sudden swelling in the legs, it is important that this patient be seen the same day. Please note that these night clinics are not intended for non-urgent matters such as prescription renewals, completion of forms, physicals, etc.
Is it a walk-in clinic?
No, these appointments are set aside for urgent matters only. Also, there may be a last minute change in physician/NP coverage and location so appointments can only be booked same day.
How do I know where to go for the clinic?
If your family doctor or nurse practitioner has booked you into night clinic they will advise you where the clinic is being held that evening.
Is it like a walk-in clinic? Can I just drop in?
No, all appointments need to be booked in advance with the physician or nurse practitioner’s office. And all those being seen must be a patient of the following:
Doctors: Dr. Bailey, Dr. Biondi, Dr. Matsusaki, Dr. McCulloch, Dr. McMahon, Dr. H. Milkovic, Dr. Z. Milkovic, Dr. Miller, Dr. Moazzam, Dr. Huffman, Dr. Ricketts, Dr. Roszell, Dr. Sikkema, Dr. Sutherland, Dr. Wheeler, or Dr. Wolting.
Nurse Practitioners: Chelsey St. Amour, Colleen Martin, Shelley Reaume, Angie Taves, or Emily Williams.
Why don’t I just go to the nearest Emergency Department or Walk-In Clinic for my daughter’s sore throat?
It’s important to know that all of your patient information is accessible (electronically) to the physician/NP working at our evening clinics, even if you are not their patient. They can look up your medical history (i.e., medication, recent tests results). They already have a collegial relationship with your physician/NP because they work together as part of team and we can provide you with the best seamless, comprehensive care.
An outside walk-in clinic or emergency department cannot access your patient information. Also, by coming to our evening clinics when possible, it allows emergency departments to focus on providing care to those who require emergency care, and this will help to reduce the emergency department wait times as well.
