Do I need an annual physical exam?

An annual physical may not be required, however a review of your vital signs measurement and an update of your medical, social, and family history is recommended. The Ontario guidelines for Pap testing are every 3 years for women or transgender people who have a cervix aged 21 years or older that are or have been sexually active. People aged 70 or older can stop having Pap tests if they have had three or more normal Pap test results in the past 10 years, and people who have had a hysterectomy should talk to their doctor or nurse practitioner to see if they should continue getting Pap tests. Your primary care provider may advise that you come in more often if you’ve had an abnormal pap test result in the past.
